If your disorganized kitchen has you pulling your hair out at dinnertime every evening, don¡¯t worry! There are some easy ways to streamline things so that you can find what you need, when you need it. Read on for some quick tips to streamline your kitchen!
Start thinking like a kindergarden teacher. Their classes are organized into ¡°zones¡± and for good reason. Ever peek in on your youngster¡¯s class and wonder how, with 25 kids, it can go from chaos to clean in a matter of minutes? It¡¯s because everyone knows where everything is supposed to go. The building blocks go in the ¡°building block zone¡±, painting stuff goes in the ¡°art zone¡±, dress up clothes go in the ¡°dress up zone¡±. Yes, it¡¯s elementary my dear Watson and it works, and what works for those kids can work for you too! We¡¯re going to create zones in your kitchen cabinets, keeping like items with like items, and close to where they will be used. Baking stuff (if you bake a lot) in a cabinet by the oven, for example. If your kids do their homework in the kitchen, then their homework stuff grouped together in a bin by the table. See? Simple!
So how many recipe books do you have crammed in your kitchen? More than 20? If you¡¯re like most women, it¡¯s right around that many. Here¡¯s a tip: Recipe books do not have to stay in the kitchen. Gasp! It¡¯s true though. The only recipe book that needs to be there is the one you¡¯re currently using to cook with. The rest can, believe it or not, reside in the bookshelf with their other page-bound friends. You¡¯ve now freed up two or three shelves. Nice job.
Don¡¯t knock drawer dividers until you¡¯ve tried ¡®em. These babies can keep your utensils from becoming a tangled mess in your drawers. They¡¯re worth the $10 you¡¯ll pay for them at any major chain. Buy some.
Group your foods together in your pantry so you can find what you need easier. If you have kids that help you put the groceries away, investing in a label maker can help keep things organized. Put all the breakfast stuff on one shelf, snack foods can go in a bin lower down so your kids can reach them, pasta stuff together, canned vegetables in a group, beans, you get the picture.
The kitchen is the heart of many people¡¯s homes. Not only used for just cooking, but homework is done here, stories shared over coffee, bill paying in the evening¡it¡¯s truly a multi-functional room. Make sure your kitchen reflects everything you do in there. If friends come over to drink coffee with you while your kids play, well make sure it¡¯s welcoming and inviting in there. If your kids do their homework there every afternoon, make sure they have the tools they need. If you do your bill paying there, set up a space for your stamps, checkbook, envelopes etc. in a drawer so you can find what you need. Celebrate the many faces of your kitchen!

The kitchen is an important part of the home. We spend a great deal of time in the kitchen nourishing our bodies. Kitchen should be clean and clutter free. No matter the size of your kitchen, you need to keep the cupboards tidy and organized.
According to the principles of Feng Shui, the kitchen is the heart of the home. It is the center that creates energy for our bodies. Beautify your kitchen space to allow positive and healthy chi to flow from your meals to your body. As well, the kitchen represents our abundance. A cluttered kitchen makes it difficult for abundance to flow into our lives as it is hindered by the chaos.
Keep the Kitchen CleanThe kitchen is symbolic of wealth and abundance in the home. The kitchen displays our wealth by the types of food included in our daily menus. Fresh produce is a great way to present wealth in the kitchen regardless of your income. Keep the area clean and clutter free to invite more abundance chi (energy) into your life.
Kitchen garbage is a constant in every home. According to the Feng Shui principles, garbage is lifeless energy that robs the room of fresh uplifting energy.
Kitchen Garbage Tips
Recycle according to your municipalities guidelines. Take action in recycling even though it takes a little longer. Educate your children the importance of recycling to minimize the amount of garbage going to landfills. Landfills are negative energy centers, so it is best if we minimize our impact to them.
Invest in a garbage disposal if your community does not collect food wastes separately. A garbage disposal should reduce your garbage by at least 25%.
Place the kitchen garbage container under a cupboard or have a lid on the container to keep the chi from flowing throughout the home. As well, clean the garbage center thoroughly weekly and wipe down daily. Drop a few essential oils into the container to minimize the scent of the garbage.
Implement a system to deal with the garbage. Garbage duties are simple to give to children in the home. One child is responsible for place kitchen garbage in the outside bins on a daily basis.
Garbage is a part of our lives, we need to minimize the impact it makes in our lives. Before you purchase an item, ask yourself if it is worth the waste. For every item we use, the packaging takes more energy to create than the item we buy.

How to Use Recycled Kitchen Cabinets

How to Use Recycled Kitchen Cabinets (December 10, 2008)
During a kitchen remodel, you may find you have old cabinets that can still function, but not in your fresh kitchen. You don¡¯t have to pay for disposal or dump them at the curb. You can recycle the old cabinets to create additional storage space in another area of your house or treat them as a tax deductible donation.
Make a Footstool
Step1Remove the door and place casters on the four front corners of the cabinet, where the door corners used to rest.
Step2Turn the cabinet over so it rests on the casters.
Step3Cover the top with foam and fabric that matches your room decor. Use a staple gun to attach.
Step4Place your new footstool in a living room, family room or bedroom.
Create a Storage Seat
Step1Select a spot, indoors or out, that would benefit from a seat and hidden storage. A window seat for reading, a toy chest, an outdoor games cabinet or pool equipment cupboard are just a few of the possibilities.
Step2Choose padding, foam and fabric appropriate for the storage seat resting place. For outdoor uses, choose a waterproof fabric.
Step3Sand the cabinet if you plan on refinishing it to another color.
Step4Paint or stain the cabinet and doors.
Step5Finish with polyurethane or varnish.
Step6Use a staple gun to attach the foam, padding and fabric to the top of the cabinet. Make sure you leave room for the doors to swing open and closed.
Step7Move the storage seat to its resting place.
Add Storage to Other Rooms
Step1Install your old cabinets in your garage, workshop or shed to provide storage for tools and projects.
Step2Install cabinets in your utility room to store non-perishable foods or household chemicals.
Step3Refinish cabinets and install new hardware to create matching end tables or nightstands.
Step4Attach casters on the bottom of a cabinet and use in your garage or a room with a hard surface as a moveable storage container with a sturdy work surface.
